Ruth (Lincoln) Broward passed into eternity on January 18, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family in Blaine, WA. Her glorious spirit is now soaring, and we are certain she is receiving a sparkly welcome from her loving family and friends who passed before her.

Ruth was born in Chicago to Ruth (Nelson) and Lucian Lincoln February 23, 1936. She married Paul Broward in 1954, and they moved “out west” to the Los Angeles area, where they raised their children Rebecca, Rex and Russell. Sailing became Ruth and Paul’s passion, and from 1972-74 the family sailed throughout the South Pacific on their 36’ sloop. Among her many talents, Ruth was a writer and published a memoir and a book called “Sailing Stories.”

Ruth instilled such a sense of devotion and joy in her family that between 1988-90 they all moved to Bellingham, WA, to remain together even as adults.

Ruth is survived by her daughter Rebecca Niemier, son and daughter-in-law Rex and Anne Broward, grandchildren Jesse and Sarah Broward, Tristan Niemier, Hannah and Luis Gomez, great-grandson Maximo Gomez, and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased are her husband of 57 years Paul Broward, their son Russell Broward, and Ruth’s three siblings Lucian Lincoln, Marilyn Rose, and Robert Lincoln.

At 88.9 years old, she still maintained a beguiling wit, a strong curiosity, and an open heart. The legacy of love she leaves behind will continue to guide us on our own life jour- neys.

The family is hosting a Celebration of Life on Zoom to accommodate those who live all across the US.
